World’s largest container ship, MSC Tessa, delivered by Chinese shipbuilder
MSC Tessa, the world’s largest containership, was delivered to Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) by Chinese shipbuilder Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding as part of a four-vessel deal worth $600 million. MSC Tessa has a capacity of 24,116 TEU and is equipped with air lubrication and a hybrid scrubber, both of which reduce energy consumption and carbon emissions. MSC has 131 containerships on order, with plans to diversify into more environmentally friendly options such as biofuels and LNG dual-fuel vessels. MSC has placed its first order for ammonia-ready designs from China.
