Saudi ports witness 7.76% rise in container traffic in February 2023
MAWANI, Saudi Arabia’s ports authority, reported a 7.76% increase in container traffic at its trade hubs in February 2023, handling 622,837 TEU versus 577,993 TEU the previous year. Container exports increased by 12.75%, while imports increased by 5.95%. Transshipments increased by 5.39%. During February, the number of vessels berthed in Saudi ports increased by 4.87% to 883. Cargo volumes, on the other hand, fell by 3.13% to 23,089,455 tonnes compared to the same period last year. The Saudi maritime sector’s cargo throughput increased by 13% in 2022, handling approximately 237 million tonnes.
