MSC discontinues calls to Indian ports on its “Falcon” service
On its “Falcon” service, Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) will no longer call at the Indian ports of Nhava Sheva (JNPT) and Mundra, instead opting for new stops in Xingang, Busan, and Xiamen. The redesigned weekly string will provide the Middle East with a dedicated intra-Asian connection. MSC intends to launch the new itinerary on March 20 from Xingang. Other major carriers serving Indian trades are realigning their service networks and vessel deployments to match excess capacity with dwindling demand. Hapag-Lloyd announced a $100 per-TEU overweight surcharge for shipments from Western India to Southern Europe beginning April 1.
