CMA CGM enters the race to run Bangladeshi port terminals
CMA CGM plans to operate Bangladeshi port terminals, including the Bay Terminal and the Matarbari deep-sea port. The French shipping company met with officials from the Chittagong Port Authority and was asked to submit a formal proposal. Both terminals are currently under construction, with the Bay Terminal set to open in June. CMA CGM also announced the launch of its new direct service from Chittagong, the Bangladesh India Gulf Express. Bangladesh is opening its port sector to foreign companies, with the Saudi Arabian Red Sea Gateway Terminal signing a concession deal for the newly built Patenga Container Terminal.
