Valenciaport senses a 16.7% increase in container traffic, resulting in monthly growth for the first time in nearly two years
In March 2023, Valenciaport’s TEU throughput increased by 16.7%, handling a total of 322,137 TEU. For the first time since May 2021, the port’s container traffic increased on a monthly basis. TEU exports increased by 12.9%, while imports increased by 30.2%. In addition, 144,079 transit containers were used, a 10.3% increase over 2022. Rail traffic has also increased at the port, with an average of 99 trains per week. This expansion comes on the heels of the Port of Valencia’s €1.56 billion commitment to a new container terminal and efforts to increase sustainability with a hydrogen refueling station.
