Finnish port strike ends after two weeks as stevedores accept pay deal.
A two-week strike by the Finnish Transport Workers’ Union (AKT) and the Finnish Port Operators’ Association has ended. The agreement, which applies to stevedores, includes a 6.3% pay increase over the course of the 25-month agreement as well as a one-time payment of €1,100 ($1,168). The union had previously rejected two proposals that sought pay increases comparable to those granted in Germany. The union has approximately 45,000 members, and the agreement makes no significant changes to the terms and conditions of employment for stevedores.
