Hapag-Lloyd will launch a flexible port coverage service
Container volume at the Port of Los Angeles falls by 43%. Hapag-Lloyd, the German ocean carrier, plans to launch a new service in Asia in April, providing greater port coverage flexibility. The new Vietnam Indonesia Straits (VIS) service will operate on the Cat Lai-Singapore-Port Klang-Belawan-Penang-Port Klang-Singapore-Cat Lai rotation, replacing the VNF and SPL services. The announcement comes less than a month after Hapag-Lloyd and Shell Western LNG B.V. signed a multi-year agreement to supply liquefied natural gas to Hapag-ultra-large Lloyd’s container vessels.
