MSC receives a 24,100 TEU megaship from a Chinese shipyard
MSC, the Swiss shipping company, has received another massive 24,100 TEU megaship from China’s Jiangnan Shipyard, increasing the carrier’s cargo capacity. The MSC RAYA is a containership in the world’s largest fleet, with a deck area nearly four times the size of a standard football pitch. The AE55/Griffin service will begin its maiden voyage on April 9 in Shanghai. MSC plans to integrate four 24,000 TEU new buildings into the 2M partnership’s Asia-Europe network by early April. In addition, the company recently signed a collaboration agreement with the Global Centre for Maritime Decarbonisation to assist the maritime industry in reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
