Porto Itapoá Reports Impressive Growth and Purchases New Equipment to Improve Efficiency
In 2022, Porto Itapoá, a Brazilian port terminal, reported a total throughput of 960,512 TEU, a 14% increase over the previous year. This was the highest increase among Brazil’s five largest container terminals. The port has also spent more than $25 million on new equipment, including ten hybrid Rubber Tyre Gantry cranes (RTGs) that will be controlled remotely and are expected to improve operational efficiency. Furthermore, the port has purchased a new container scanner and a high-energy inspection system trailer, which will boost productivity and security. The purchase of new equipment and technology will elevate Porto Itapoá to the forefront of the Brazilian port industry.
